I was in the hospital in October of 2019. I was experiencing a severe fibromyalgia flare that left my whole body in a state of "temporary paralysis" (as I call them) with the exception of my left hand. I was becoming desperate as the doctors looked and whispered about me like I was crazy. In a way, I was not surprised. After 8mg of Morphine and 15mg of Toradol, I was still unmoved. They just marveled. It was at that time I began wailing and bargaining with God.
Lord! Is it your will that I suffer? Are you seeing this? Remember me and my sacrifices Lord and heal my body! As I sobbed, I heard him say the darndest thing; "Not everyone is capable to endure long-suffering. You should be privileged!" It took me a minute to realize what I had just heard. According to the New King James Bible in Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law". You see, most people want the other attributes of the fruit of the Spirit but never do you hear about longsuffering. Heck, I didn't want it either. However, I have come to believe that God is not a man and there is a purpose in everything that he does. Things that he also allows to happen in our lives...sometimes out of our own doing and often just for his glorification; are all to do train you.
When one is going through some tough times or situations, understandably, it would be hard to see God in our pain. But would you realize that anything worth having in life comes with a little pain? I mean, going through college and or basic training as a private in the US ARMY, that was painful! However, We can try to go through life with God's grace. But if you are like me, you have gone through it kicking and screaming :) But after you have been a rough diamond, you will appreciate after going through the fire and becoming refined, and now, sitting on a pedestal for all to watch! Can you imagine the joy of being that shiny and envied? When you have put in the work, such a feeling is well worth it and deserved.
I leave you with this; no matter what you are going through, no matter what you are experiencing, there is always a lesson. Find the lesson in your situation. It might be hard but I promise you, thee God that gives life and gifts will always be there. So call on him. You are a diamond in the making, cherish your process for you will appreciate the lessons later! What are your thoughts?
